Frequently Asked Questions

Why hire Scoop It Up, Inc. to scoop the poop?

Hire us because 1. You hate to do it. Most people hire Scoop It Up because they don't have time to clean up after their dog's weekly waste production. The second, most common reason we hear is that some people find the scooping disgusting and see hiring Scoop It Up as an affordable and convenient solution to the dog waste problem.

How often does Scoop It Up, Inc. service my yard?
We can scoop as often as you'd like. The majority of our scooping clients receives / requests once a week service. You may want to consider twice a week service for 2 or more dogs. You also may want to consider service every other week if you have only one small dog.

How does service get started?
It's easy! Just call us at 225-955-1355. We'll go over some basic information (number of dogs, size of yard, etc.) over the phone and arrange a personal meeting that will be convenient for you.

Which days of the week is Scoop It Up offered?
Scoop It Up operates Monday through Friday. We have been known to meet with clients or do some scooping on weekends, but that is the exception not the rule.

Can my dogs be left in the yard while scooping is done?
This depends. If we have met with you and your dogs and the dogs have taken a liking to us, then yes, they can be left in the yard when we come to scoop. If your dogs have had trouble with people before, that means anyone, then it may be better for us (and for your dogs) if they are restrained or confined to the house while we are there.

What is done with all the poop that is scooped?
We double bag your dogs poop so that is doesn't smell and place it in your non-recyclable trash can.  If this is a problem, we can make other arrangements.

Can I choose the service day?
Possibly. We will make every effort to keep our customers happy; however we hope that you understand that at times it may be necessary to section our routes to certain areas of Baton Rouge on certain days.

Will my service day ever change?
We hope not. We have gone to great lengths to keep you and your service day right where you are. We do like to keep an open mind on this. There may be times when you need us to move your service day for reasons beyond your control. There may also be times due to unforeseen circumstances that we may ask to move your service day. We challenge ourselves to work around any issues and maintain our focus on customer satisfaction.

Is it possible to get a one-time only cleaning?
Yes. Our scooping services are available for small and large one-time cleanings for residential and commercial properties.

How is billing and payment handled?
You will receive a monthly invoice around the middle of the month for the month's services.  The invoice will list your dates of service for the month.

You can send check or money order to:
Scoop It Up, Inc.
P. O. Box
Baton Rouge, La 70879

We hope to make online credit card payment available soon!

Is a contract needed?
Yes. The contracts don't contain anything too legally binding; they just give Scoop It Up, Inc. permission to be on your property to scoop the poop.

Can I skip a scheduled visit?
Sure. Just give us a call and let us know how many service days you would like to skip. We will prorate your next month's bill.

Do you scoop on heavy rain days?
At times the rain can be an issue. We will do our best to get out and do our duties if the rain is on the light side. However if the rain begins to come down in sheets, we prefer to move your scheduled visit to another day. It is near impossible to guarantee any degree of quality poop removal when it's raining really hard. If for some reason we get a full week of hard rain, your next month's fees may be prorated for visits you did not receive.

What if my scheduled service day falls on a holiday?

We are currently working on all holidays except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.  We may choose to take off another holiday as well, but try to keep this under 5 days a year. Any of the holidays we take off will be made up quickly.

Should my gate be unlocked on service day?
Yes. We require that arrangements are made with us so we can have access to your yard that day. You may also leave a hidden key or some other solution. If you like, we can keep a gate key or combo lock on file.

What happens if I forget to unlock the gate or my dogs won't let you in?
We will allow this to happen twice without a service charge. After the first 2 free incidents, we charge 100% service fees for that day, even though we were unable to get in and scoop. We feel this is fair because 1. we have previously offered 2 free trips to your home, 2. we have spent time and gas to drive to your home, and 3. during the next visit we will have twice as much dog poop to scoop taking twice as long.

How will I know that Scoop It Up has been to my home?

If nobody is home when we come to scoop, we'll leave a "You've Been Scooped" note on your door with the date and the employee's name.
